Healthy glow, metallic eyes, glowing lips and intensely dark reds are just a few of the Fall 2013 makeup and beauty trends we saw in the Fall Runway shows from Paris, London, Milan and New York.
Unlike last fall’s glamorous, vampy vixen, we are looking forward to embracing a more casual laid-back approach to luxury. You can put aside your lip liners and replace them with Q-tips, set aside your coloured eye shadows for copper hues, invest in a good hair oil for sleek looks, and stock up on your favourite texture sprays and dry shampoos, because messy hair is in! This season, everything’s a bit smudged, tousled and relaxed.

1. Finished Skin
Well groomed and carefully prepped lady-like makeup is key this season, think Hitchcock-style femininity. 4. Dark Edgy and Metallic Nails
The undisputed hits of Fall/Winter 2013-2014 runways nails are dark colours, gold, silver, steel, bronze and lead finishes and any 3D embellishments. Dark burgundy lacquers will compliment a sophisticated fall look, while metallic lacquers enhance the edgy underground look for the season.

5. The Low Ponytail
The low ponytail was seen everywhere (Lanvin, Chalayan, Chloé, Mulberry) in many variations. It was grungy at Lanvin, coloured at Alexander Wang, twisted at Ports, and tousled slightly at Rachel Zoe. This means that this trend is achievable for every hair type and any situation! We really like this look in the modern version, when it’s sleek and straight. Blow dry hair straight with a thermal protector (KEVIN.MURPHY DAMAGE.MANAGER is excellent – Available in-store only) and be sure to hydrate the pony with an oil (Rahua Elixer is life-changing!) for a high gloss finish.
