Smoke, spice and everything nice (rose)… this is Elixir by Penahligon’s London. At first spritz, the beautiful spice notes hit you immediately – warm, rich cardamom and cinnamon. The eucalyptus in this scent is uplifting, bright, refreshing and really what makes this Elixir special. The contrast of cool eucalyptus, sweet Turkish rose and the warm delicious combination of spices makes this fragrance light enough for daily wear and suitable for any season and for any gender. However, the dry down shifts slightly more to the masculine side as the cedar, guaiac, and rosewood notes come to life. Although Elixir is classified as a Spicy Oriental fragrance, it can also be considered herbal/woodsy. I really enjoy the the spiritualness of this fragrance, as the incense note reminds me of the old catholic church of my childhood – comforting. Elixir is quite the unusual experience.
